This, the third installment of the religion series, will cover some of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweets as they pertain to religion.
There are two tweets here that have two different goals. I'll discuss the first set first. What Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is doing in this first set is defending herself from a personal attack regarding her response to a religion attack and ultimately her as a person. her response is intelligent and well calculated. She first highlights the dangers of religious extremism in the tragedy that it was having on the Sir Lankan people and the American people in San Diego. I won’t digress any further into the subject as the previous two posts have already discussed religious extremism. The second purpose is to defender character. Not only is she trying to say that she was not incorrect in her statements or unsympathetic to religious people, but she also reasserts her own faith. This is critical, as a public figure statement of faith is important to the stability of the country. assuredly I've established that not one particular religion is needed or should be observed for say if there is not a state-established religion, however, no person should be allowed to denounce all religion as it is an essential tool of the state. In denouncing of all religion that person would become an enemy of the State as they are undermining its integrity. AOC is smart here in that she not only fends off the accusations of being religiously intolerant, she also reasserts her faith in a proud and open manner. This assertion of faith can also be seen in the second tweet I'll discuss.
This tweet, as mentioned, asserts Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is faith. It is clear that she is attempting to do this by joining and song of Faith with various women of color in what appears to be a politically related religious group. On top of this, she also States some of the songs lyrics, which speak to the value of religion. "Strength", "peace", "joy", "love", etc are all positive values that aid in supporting the state and are good values of mœurs.
Through all of this Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is careful to not engage in any sort of religious extremism or supremacy. She simply states that she is of faith it makes it clear that is with diverse allies (the video shows women of various races singing in a faith-based hymn).
This is an interesting discussion of religion, but one might accuse you of not bringing you're own "radical" viewpoints on religion, especially as it pertains to your viewpoint that public atheism can be punished by death.
